Accommodations
Stockholm has a rather limited number of hotel rooms, and pending the season or whether there are big events on, it can run out of space. Timely booking is therefore recommended. Rates are comparable to most other international metropoles, and range from low end to luxurious. When you book, it is easiest to find a hotel in the areas Östermalm, Norrmalm, Södermalm/Slussen or Gamla Stan – see the link to the map of Stockholm. Alternatively you could find (probably cheaper) accommodation in the greater Stockholm region if you’re prepared to travel 1 hour or more to the city by taking a train (pendeltåg) or the subway (tunnelbana) – see link to the map under ‘how to get around’.
Edwin: “I have stayed at many hotels in Stockholm, but here is my top three:
- Stockholm Sheraton & Towers:
This is our favorite hotel, though quite pricey, the views from the penthouse suites are unbeatable (see above). Situated between the old city and the City Hall, Central Station and Drottninggatan, you are right in the middle of things.
- Hilton Slussen
My second favorite, thanks to the rooms with a view across the water and the nice bar ‘Eken’.
- Scandic Anglais
Decent hotel, great location. Near Stureplan, a main square with lots of restaurants, bars and clubs in the area. Some of our favorite clubs like Sturecompagniet, Spy Bar and Kharma are here."
